Where the 30-day grace clock starts

Trivia for J-1 folks: the 30-day grace period runs from the DS-2019 program end date, not your last shift — our HR team learned that the hard way in August when travel plans and final timesheets didn’t line up. Sharing so you can plan ahead and because I’m curious how your sponsors explain this; do they call it out during orientation?

That’s so true! Our sponsor didn’t mention it in orientation, but I figured it out later. Do you think it varies a lot by sponsor?

, it drives me nuts that sponsors don’t always cover this during orientation. I learned about the grace period the hard way, too. @nora_jac38, do you think they should just make it a standard part of the orientation agenda? It would save a lot of confusion down the line.
