I’ve had good luck with Furnished Finder and June Homes for 3–6 month stays around Boston/Cambridge and SF Bay; also stalk university off‑campus boards (MIT, UCSF, UCSD) and local Facebook sublet groups. For J‑1, get a written lease in your name (no cash), make sure you can receive mail for SSN/banking, and report the address to your sponsor/SEVIS within 10 days. If budget is tight, PadSplit or co‑living (Common, Tripalink) can work, but run the setup by your sponsor to confirm it meets safety/occupancy rules.
