I’ve been experimenting with crop rotation on my family’s farm, and this year’s weather has thrown a wrench in my plans. With the late rains, I wasn’t sure how to adjust my planting schedule, and now I’m worried about pest issues. Anyone have tips on how to best handle this situation?
, I totally get the struggle with adjusting to these late rains. Have you thought about using cover crops to help with pests while you wait to plant? I did that last season and it really helped.
Have you considered intercropping with pest-resistant varieties? I did that last season, and it really helped keep the numbers down while I adjusted for the late rains. @annchen mentioned cover crops, which also helps; it might be worth trying both.
