Language barriers in everyday situations

And i’ve been living in Spain for about six months, and even though my Spanish is improving, I still struggle with casual conversations. Just the other day, I couldn’t understand a joke from my classmates and felt totally lost. Does anyone have tips on how to practice everyday language skills in a natural setting?

It’s tough when you miss a joke; it’s like trying to catch confetti in a windy room! I find that watching local TV shows or joining conversation groups really helps — it’s a great way to pick up those casual phrases. Have you tried anything like that yet?

I get that! Maybe try chatting with locals at cafes; it’s casual and fun… Have you checked out local meetups yet?
