Experiencing language barriers in daily life

Living in a different country has been an eye-opener for me, especially when it comes to communicating. For example, I had a hilarious misunderstanding at a café the other day when I tried to order something simple and ended up with a dessert I didn’t even want! Has anyone else had funny or frustrating moments while trying to communicate in a foreign language? I’d love to hear your stories.

I totally get that! I once ordered ‘pasta’ in Italy and ended up with a seafood dish I couldn’t finish. I found that using my phone to translate key phrases helped a lot, especially for things I really wanted or needed.

Those mix-ups can be hilarious! I once tried to order a ‘small coffee’ and got a giant cup that could’ve doubled as a fish bowl. Using a translation app definitely helps, but sometimes you just have to embrace the chaos. Have you tried picking up a few local phrases to ease the process?
