Best practices for crop rotation

I’ve been experimenting with different crop rotation techniques on our farm this season, and it’s fascinating how much it impacts soil health. We switched between legumes and corn, and I’ve already noticed improved nitrogen levels. I’m curious if anyone else has seen similar results or has additional tips for maximizing yields through rotation?

Crop rotation is like a dance; if you keep stepping on the same partner’s toes, things just don’t go as smoothly. I’ve found that adding a cover crop after harvest can really boost soil structure. Have you tried that alongside your rotation?

I’ve seen great results with cover crops too! They really help with soil structure. Have you tried adding winter rye? :seedling:.

But switching to legumes has worked wonders for my nitrogen too! Have you thought about intercropping with some herbs to further boost biodiversity?

It’s impressive how quickly you’ve noticed changes from rotating legumes and corn! I find that incorporating a diverse range of cover crops, like clover, can enhance those nitrogen levels even more. Have you thought about interplanting some flowers to attract beneficial insects too?
